Authority is a new concept introduced in Heir to the Throne. It measures the amount of influence the Emperor has in the Holy Roman Empire, and is used to enact Imperial Reforms, another new addition to HTTT.

Authority can be gained by defending and releasing annexed member states of the empire. Authority can also be lost if foreign powers unrestrictedly pass across the empire and the emperor's territory.
