Westernization events[1] are a group of ten events for countries during the westernisation process. The first three events were introduced with Heir to the Throne
, the others with Divine Wind
.
Divine Wind
If a country gives way to the demands, it will get no further westernization events for the next ten years, but cannot do military modernisation during that period.
It is almost certainly not practical to try and avoid giving into these demands in order to try and do military modernisation sooner. They all have a MTTH of 30 months so are likely to trigger in the time it takes to go from -2 stability after a technology westernization to the +3 stability needed for military modernization (and remember that Western influences increases stability costs). Refusing the demands of "provinces resist westernization" lowers centralization by one (rendering military modernization impossible) and refusing "peasants resist westernization" lowers stability by one (giving more time for "provinces resist" to trigger). Of course, if one ten-year period comes to an end shortly before military modernisation will be possible, it is worth refusing some of the lesser events and hoping "peasants resist"/"provinces resist" doesn't trigger, especially if you have a slider move in reserve.
