Defensiveness affects fort sieges and assaults, and is used in In Nomine.

  • Defensiveness affects how often siege checks are made. At 100% defensiveness (default), checks are made once per month. Higher defensiveness percentages lengthen the time between siege checks, thus, a 25% bonus to defensiveness means that siege checks are taken every 37.5 days (or so) instead of 30.
  • Defensiveness affects the success of siege checks as a multiplier to the Fort Level. Thus, not only does each individual check take longer, it's less likely to succeed. A level 4 fort in a nation with +25% defensiveness acts as a level 5 fort when under siege (4 * 125% = 5).
  • Defensiveness strengthens the garrison against assaults.

Defensiveness of a garrison may be offset by using enough Artillery for a Siege bonus and generals with siege modifiers.
