Diplomatic missions are a group of seven general missions. They focus on relations with neighboring countries.

Divine Wind

Improve relations with $COUNTRY$

Our relations with our neighbours have deteriorated too badly, we need to rectify this and repair our relations. Type:
  • Neighbouring countries

Acquisition conditions:
  • The target country:
  • has the same religious group as the target country.
  • is not at war with the target country.
  • has relations of at least 0 and less than 100 with the target country.
Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • has the same culture as the target country: ×1.5
    • has the same religion as the target country: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is less than 5: ×0.5
Temporary effects:
  • None

Success conditions:
  • has relations of at least 100 with the target country.
Failure conditions:
  • At least one of the following must be true:
    • is at war with the target country.
    • The target country does not exist.

Reward:


Royal marriage with $COUNTRY$

To strengthen our dynasty we must expand our dynastic ties. Our nobility feels that it would be advantageous of us to gain a royal marriage with $COUNTRY$. Type:
  • Neighbouring countries

Acquisition conditions:
  • is not a vassal.
  • is not a steppe horde.
  • is a monarchy.
  • The target country:
    • is not at war.
    • is not a vassal.
    • is not a steppe horde.
    • is a monarchy.
    • is either not Japan or if Japan then there are no daimyos.
  • is in the same religious group as this country.
  • does not have a royal marriage with the target country.
  • is not at war with target country.
  • has relations of at least 50 with the target country.
Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • has the same culture as the target country: ×1.5
    • has the same religion as the target country: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is less than 5: ×0.5

  • has a royal marriage with the target country.
Failure conditions:
  • At least one of the following must be true:
    • is at war with the target country.
    • is a vassal.
    • is not a monarchy.

Form alliance with $COUNTRY$

We need to form more alliances, and an alliance with $COUNTRY$ should be beneficial to us. Type:
  • Neighbouring countries

Acquisition conditions:
  • is not a vassal.
  • has a maximum of 1 alliance.
  • The target country:
    • is not at war.
    • is not a vassal.
    • has a maximum of 1 alliance.
    • does not see this country as a threat.
    • is either not Japan or if Japan then there are no daimyos.
  • does not have an alliance with the target country.
  • has relations of at least 50 with the target country.
Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • The target country has at least 10 provinces: ×2.0
    • has the same culture as the target country: ×1.5
    • has the same religion as the target country: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is less than 5: ×0.5
Temporary effects:
  • None

Success conditions:
  • has an alliance with the target country.
Failure conditions:
  • At least one of the following must be true:
    • is at war with the target country.
    • has at least 3 alliances.
    • The target country does not exist.

Reward:


Vassalize $COUNTRY$

We enjoy good relations and have strong dynastic ties with $COUNTRY$, however they are very weak. We must extend out protection to them and make them acknowledge us as their overlord. Type:
  • Neighbouring countries

Acquisition conditions: Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • The target country has less than 3 cities: ×1.5
    • has at least 10 cities: ×1.5
    • has the same culture as the target country: ×1.5
    • has the same religion as the target country: ×1.5
Temporary effects:
  • Subjugation of the target country - casus belli
    for 10 years

Success conditions:
  • The target country is a vassal of this country.
Failure conditions:
  • At least one of the following must be true:
    • The target country does not exist.
    • The target country is a vassal, but not of this country.

Reward:


Incorporate $OWNERNAME$ into our country

$OWNERNAME$ is a vassal of our country, but we need to integrate them closer into our society. A diplomatic annexation would be our best option. Type:
  • Neighbouring provinces

Acquisition conditions: Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 8: ×1.5
Temporary effects:
  • The target province gets the flag “annex_vassal_mission_target”[1].
  • A random province of the target province owner that is bordering this country and does not have the flag “annex_vassal_mission_target”[1] gets it.

Success conditions:
  • owns the target province.
Failure conditions:
  • At least one of the following must be true:
    • The target province owner:
      • does not exist.
      • is in a different religious group as this country.
      • is not a vassal of this country.

Reward:
  • Any province of this country with the flag “annex_vassal_mission_target”[1] that is not a core province of this country:

Comment: This mission was changed with Divine Wind patch 5.2.


Our reputation must improve!

We have expanded far too rapidly, and we have grown rather infamous. We must consolidate and work to reduce our Infamy, or else we'll face some dire consequences. Type:
  • Country

Acquisition conditions:
  • has infamy of at least 70% and less than 90% of the limit.
  • This mission is not available to the AI.
Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 8: ×1.5
Temporary effects:
  • None

Success conditions:
  • has infamy of less than 50% of the limit.
Failure conditions:
  • has infamy of 100% of the limit.

Reward:


Repair relations with $COUNTRY$.

Our actions have lead to worsening relations with some of our neighbours. We must should seek to increase ties with $COUNTRY$. Type:
  • Rival countries

Acquisition conditions:
  • has infamy of at least 10.
  • The target country is not at war.
  • has relations of less than 0 with the target country.
Acquisition chance:
  • Base weight: 1
    • has the same culture as the target country: ×1.5
    • has the same religion as the target country: ×1.5
    • Ruler’s diplomatic skill is at least 6: ×1.5

  • Infamy: –1



Heir to the throne

    • The target province owner:
      • does not exist.
      • is in a different religious group as this country.
      • is not a vassal of this country.

Reward:
  • The target province becomes a core province of this country.
