This article is accurate for the latest versions of EU3, Napoleon’s Ambition, In Nomine, Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind.

The unification of the Mughal Empire works differently in different versions of the game. In EU3 and Napoleon's Ambition, it was implemented as country event that, when the preconditions were met, could be accepted or declined, but only once. In Nomine has changed this unification to a decision. The article below lists the requirements and effects for each version separately.

Divine Wind

In Divine Wind, there are two ways to form the Mughal Empire.

Nomads

The first way is as a country in the Nomad technology group:

Requirements

  • The Mughal Empire must not already exist and you must not be the Ottoman Empire or Persia.
  • You must be in the Altaic or Iranian culture groups.
  • You must have Government technology at level 4.
  • Your ruler must have a Military rating of at least 6.
  • You must either:
    • Control (not necessarily own) Jaipur, Lucknow, Delhi, Agra and Panipat.
    • Have Delhi, Sind and Kashmir as vassals.
  • You must be in the Nomad technology group.

Effects

  • The Mughals will gain cores on: Gazni, Balkh, Kabulistan, Badakhshan, Sind, Bakkar, Multan, Lahore, Chandigrah, Sutlej, Thar, Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Panipat, Delhi, Agra, Mandla, Oudh, Allahabad, Balushistan, Indus, Quetta, Kohistan, and Ladakh.
  • Random province gains 1 tax base and 1 manpower multiplier.
  • Gain 1 Centralization
  • Gain 5 Prestige
  • Government changes to Despotic Monarchy
  • Become the Mughals
  • Mughals become Muslim technology group.

Non-nomads

The second way to form the Mughals is as a country that is not in the Nomad technology group:

Requirements

  • The Mughal Empire must not already exist and you must not be the Ottoman Empire or Persia.
  • You must be in the Altaic or Iranian culture groups.
  • You must own, Jaipur, Panipat, Lucknow, Delhi, and Agra.
  • You must have a core on Delhi.
  • You must not be in the Nomad technology group

Effects

  • The Mughals will gain cores on: Gazni, Balkh, Kabulistan, Badakhshan, Sind, Bakkar, Multan, Lahore, Chandigrah, Sutlej, Thar, Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Panipat, Delhi, Agra, Mandla, Oudh, Allahabad, Balushistan, Indus, Quetta, Kohistan, and Ladakh.
  • Random province gains 1 tax base and 1 manpower multiplier.
  • Gain 2 Centralization
  • Gain 5 Prestige
  • Government changes to despotic monarchy
  • Become the Mughals
  • Mughals become Muslim technology group.

In Nomine

Unlike many of the other unifications, the requirements for forming the Mughals were radically changed in In Nomine. Previously, the Mughal Empire seemed to stand for any type of Indian unification, including native, Hindu ones. Now, however, it more accurately reflects the historical background of the empire.

Requirements

To take this decision:

  • Mughal Empire may not already exist and you may not be Ottoman Empire or Persia.
  • Primary culture must be in the Altaic or Iranian group.
  • You must own Jaipur, Panipat, Delhi, Lucknow and Agra.
  • You must have a core on Delhi.

Effects

  • Change your country to Mughal Empire
  • Grant cores on Gazni, Balkh, Kabulistan, Badakhshan, Sind, Bakkar, Multan, Lahore, Chandigarh, Sutlej, Thar, Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Panipat, Delhi, Agra, Mandla, Oudh, Allahabad, Balushistan, Indus, Quetta, Kohistan and Ladakh.
  • Gain +1 base tax and +1 manpower multiplier in a random owned province.
  • Gain two points toward centralization.
  • Gain +5 prestige.
  • Change government to Despotic Monarchy.

EU3 and Napoleon's Ambition

The map shows both the required provinces to form the Mughal Empire and the optional ones needed to decrease the MTTH. The capital provinces of those countries with the correct national culture to receive the event are marked with a star.

Requirements

The following conditions must be met for the event to fire:

  • Mughal Empire must not already exist.
  • One must not have declined the event previously.
  • One must belong to either the Eastern aryan, Hindusthani, Western aryan or Dravidian culture group or have Mongol as a primary culture.
  • One must own these provinces: Jaipur, Panipat, Delhi, Lucknow and Agra.
  • One must not be at war.

MTTH

The mean time to happen for this event is 216 months.

  • For each of these provinces owned the MTTH is decreased by 5%: Gazni, Balkh, Kabulistan, Badkhshan, Kutch, Sind, Bakkar, Lahore, Chandigarh, Sutlej, Mandla, Oudh, Allahabad, Baluchistan, Indus and Quetta.
  • Centralization steps 2, 3 and 4 decrease the MTTH by 10% each. (30% total)
  • Decentralization steps 2, 3 and 4 increase the MTTH by 10% each. (30% total)
  • A monarch military skill of 7 or 8 will decrease the MTTH by 10% and 20% respectively. (30% total)

Effects

If you become the Mughals, your country government type is changed to Despotic Monarchy. It is important for countries like Timurid Empire to get them out of Tribal forms of government which hurt their research a lot.

You receive the following provinces as cores:

  • Gazni, Balkh, Kabulistan, Badakhshan, Sind, Bakkar, Multan, Lahore, Chandigarh, Sutlej, Thar, Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Panipat, Delhi, Agra, Mandla, Oudh, Allahabad, Balushistan, Indus, Quetta, Kohistan and Ladakh.

You also receive the following when you become the Mughal Empire:

  • Gain 5 Prestige.
  • Gain 1 base tax and 1 manpower in a random province you own.
  • Move 2 towards Centralization.

If you decline to become the Mughal Empire:

  • Move 2 towards Decentralization.
  • Lose 1 base tax in a random province you own.
